Executive Director - The Community Information Centre of Ottawa - Closed < Back
The Community Information Centre of Ottawa (CICO) has been delivering services locally since 1964 and across Eastern Ontario since 2008. Through our information and referral service, we have been linking those in need of community, social, and health services with agencies and their programs, be they in the non-profit or government sector. The 211 hotline connects individuals with a Certified Information and Referral Specialist who has been trained to assess needs, answer caller questions in detail, and advise what services and programs are the most appropriate. It offers immediate access to information about child care, language classes, job searches, housing, emergency shelters, services for persons with disabilities, home support, legal assistance, financial assistance, and much more.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director leads, directs and manages the operations of CICO in accordance with the goals, objectives, mission, vision and policies set by the Board. The Executive Director also develops and implements information and communication strategies and promotes services to its funders, the community, stakeholders and the public. Key responsibilities include overseeing operations, finances, and human resources; working with a voluntary Board of Directors and other stakeholders to identify strategic opportunities and new funding opportunities; and acting as the official spokesperson for CICO as a compelling voice in the information and referral sector in Ontario and across Canada.

The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, preferably in both of Canada’s official languages. She/he will have a demonstrable record of meeting deliverables and will commit to best practices and to acting ethically and fairly. Attributes include an ability to maintain, guide and implement policy and recommendations regarding organizational direction, financial plans, priorities and goals. The ideal candidate will also have the ability to measure performance against established strategic objectives and performance goals/targets, and to maintain and guide CICO’s human resource plan.

The successful candidate will have a University degree in administration, social services, education or communications. She/he will possess relevant management experience in leading a high-performing team to deliver high quality client and customer service.
